Pay your electricity bills through UPI, Bharat QR
Customers of Reliance Energy in Suburban Mumbai can now simply ‘Scan and Pay’ through BHIM or any UPI App to pay their electricity bills as payments through UPI QR is now live for bill payments. Reliance Energy’s network spans over 400 Square KMs catering to over 2.9 million customers. In another development, over 7 lakh customers of Tata Power living in Mumbai can pay digitally through Bharat QR.
NPCI organises experience zones for BHIM UPI
NPCI officials organised experience zones for employees of Reliance Energy in Mumbai. The activity attracted over 800 employees of Reliance Energy at three locations who were provided assistance on BHIM download and usage. Contests on BHIM app were also conducted in order to appeal the audience and encourage them to use digital payments. About 550 employees downloaded BHIM App and successfully linked their bank account with the app. BHIM App downloads have crossed 23 million mark in the previous month.
Pay through UPI for food, financial services
Customers can now order food online and pay food bills of Fassos through UPI using PhonePe. PhonePe has implemented UPI as a payment option for bill payments in Fassos Food Services App. In another development, Fullerton India is now live on SMS Intent for customers. UPI powers multiple bank accounts into a single mobile application of any participating bank, mergers several banking features and provides seamless fund routing and merchant payments into one hood.
NPCI organises Cybersecurity Hackathon
A nationwide hackathon was organised by NPCI which was aimed to collect suggestions for enhancing BHIM App’s security features. Over 1700 developers registered themselves for this hackathon out of which 10 entries were shortlisted for final round and idea presentations. NPCI jury evaluated ideas basis on originality, impact and feasibility of the proposal and presented award to three teams.
NPCI runs for a cause
NPCI officials participated at the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2018 to promote digital payments. About 40 NPCI employees raised money to sponsor education of two junior college students from Katkari tribe in Panvel, Mumbai. Tata Mumbai Marathon witnessed people from all walks of life including Bollywood celebrities, sports personalities, business tycoons, amateur athletes, senior citizens and people with disabilities.
The Bharat Bill Payment System is a Reserve Bank of India (RBI) conceptualised system driven by NPCI. It is a one-stop payment platform for all bills providing an interoperable and accessible “Anytime Anywhere” bill payment service to all customers across India with certainty, reliability and safety of transactions.
